My Road to Recovery...
Admitting my life had finally reached a point that alcohol was seriously affecting me, was the start of my road to recovery. I had the honesty, open mindedness and willingness to seek treatment. I first stopped at Rosecrance Treatment Center and was there for 30 days. God led me down a cobble stone path around a square at which point He directed me to Rebekah’s House.
Greeted by Shari Shaver I was welcomed with open arms. God had provided me a safe and sober living environment to live. At Rebekah’s House, I have learned that there is Faith, Hope and Love if you're willing to accept it. I have grown as an individual in Mind, Body and Spirit. Basic needs are met such as shelter, food, clothing and toiletries. On my road to recovery Rebekah’s House provided me with resources in the community to use. Some of these stops included: AA meetings, Outpatient at Centegra, Turning Point, Family Services and Community Health Dept, McHenry county Workforce Center, Library and Redeemer Lutheran Church.
I am thankful and grateful for Rebekah’s House on my Road to Recovery.
Sincerely,
LM
To Everyone at Rebekah's House;
I'm writing this letter to you with extreme gratitude. I praise god for putting each and every person in my life since I came here.
Last June my life had come to the end of its rope. I had lost just about everything and everyone I held dear to me. My addiction stole it all from me. Thats when it happened, Step 1, realizing I was powerless. By the Grace of God, and my sister and brother in law, they helped me find you. Rebekah's House has given me the tools I need and foundation to build on to continue sober living. THANK YOU JESUS!
To Shari: Thank you so much for helping me through all the rough spots, especially with my daughter, among many other things. You were compassionate in times of grief and tough and stern when need be. These are characteristics of a good leader.
To the Girls: Stay strong, remember why you came here. Find that higher power, that inner strength. Let go of your past even if it means giving up family members, children,
and significant others.This is your sobriety, your life!

I dont know where I'd be today if not for this house! I owe my life to Shari, Paula and the residents. The structure and stability of Rebekah's House is exactly what I needed to keep myself sober. Thanks to this house and God I will be celebrating one year sobriety on Sept. 7th!
Rebekah's House has helped to give me not only my life back but a relationship with God greater than I ever could have imagined. Iam entirely grateful to this house.
