The Story of Rebekah's House...a journey back

Rebekah's House is growing - 88 women have benefited from the residence!
Thanks to all our Rebekah's House "Angels" we could not have done it without you!  Whether you have partnered with us in prayer, donated services, goods, or you are a financial partner, YOU are the reason we can continue our ministry to these women! Thank you!
 

2009..thus far..

  • December 23rd, celebrate 4yrs open! 
  • Rides 4 Recovery has provided hundreds of rides to women to appointments
  • 88 women have benefited from the residence and we continue the outreach to women and their children. Hundreds of  "Faith Baskets" and "Faith Bags" were given to women and men in the treatment center
  • Grants recieved:  Woodstock Morning Rotary, Willow Springs Foundation, GraceLutheranChurch/Woodstock, McHenry County      Community Foundation, Henrietta Lang Burk Foundation and we continue to build relationships and gain support
  • New support including proposal guidance, a live-in house manager and financial guidance

2008

  • December 23rd, celebrated 3 yrs open!
  • 70 women have benefited from the residence and thousands of women and their families through the outreach
  • Womens Spirituality Circle began- where the residents have the opportunity to  explore a relationship with Jesus Christ
  • We have taken 110 Faith Baskets to the women in treatment centers
  • Have gained local support and building solid relationships
  • Rides 4 Recovery program allowed 100% of women to get to their appointments

2007

  • 70 "Christmas Gift Faith Baskets" were given to women in treatment and recovery houses
  • Opened new house in Woodstock October 
  • Celebrated 2 yrs open!
  • Received grant from Grace Lutheran for general operating support
  • Received grant from McHenry County Community Foundation to begin "Rides 4 Recovery" Program. A transportation program for residents and alumni of Rebekah's House to get to and from their medical, mental health and legal appointments
  • Received grant through Chicago Community Trust Foundation
  • 49 women have benefited from the residence and over 500 women and their children through the outreach

2006

  • Served over 350 women and children through the Outreach! 
  • Received grant from Grace LutheranChurch/Woodstock
  • Poplar Creek Womens group "Heart to Heart" created  70 "Faith Baskets" for residents and women in treatment centers!
  • Celebrated 1 yr. of house operations on December 23rd!
  • 23 women benefited from the residential services

2005

  • Served over 300 women in the outreach program
  • Developed guidelines and rules for house
  • Opened house on December 23rd! (Praise God!)

2004

  • One-hundred and sixty nine "Christmas Gift Faith Baskets" were give to women in treatment and recovery houses.
  • Under direction of Attorney- Raam Jani (McDermott, Will, Emery-Chicago) filed necessary papers to gain not for profit status and get incorporated.
  • Helped over 100 women with items and clothing.
  • Created brochure.
  • Established a board of directors 

2003

  • Rebekah's House (the Outreach) was born.
  • Began collecting personal items and clothing for women in recovery. Helped over 50 women in the outreach program.
     

2000

  • One lady, on her knees, giving thanks for the day and her own sobriety. She felt the "nudge"....that someday she would be helping other women...."He said, it will be called Rebekah's House."
