History

Pre-Katrina OS-LB IHN operated using 18 churches for housing.  Each church volunteer a week at a time providing meals and beds at night.

After Katrina, when so many churches were destroyed, only eight churches remained participating, so the mission was moved to a temporary facility in Biloxi. The 2008 Episcopal Relief Services along with a donation from Leo Seal purchased Rebekah’s House to provide short-term safe overnight housing to homeless families… primarily those with teenage boys or one or two-parent families with children trying to stay together, which is not allowed in most shelters.
